Welcome to July’s business report! Here, I’ll share how I made money online while traveling full-time last month. Let’s dive into the update and see how things went.
If you’re new here, you might wonder why I publish these business reports every month. Initially, it was all about the extra income I was making from side jobs, excluding my day job earnings. But after leaving my financial analyst job in October 2013, these reports now cover the various ways I earn a living through my business.
Some people ask why I openly share my monthly activities. While some think it’s crazy, others appreciate the transparency. I enjoy publishing these reports for three main reasons:
1. Before blogging, I knew nothing about side hustling or making money online. I thought the only way to increase income was through job raises. Seeing others’ income reports inspired me to try side hustling, and I want to show others how it can positively change their lives.
2. These reports help me track my progress, learn from mistakes, and identify areas for improvement. They keep me accountable.
3. I want to demonstrate that making side money is possible and there are legitimate ways to earn from home.
Life is fantastic now that I’m my own boss and a full-time blogger. I wake up excited every day, and I want to show others that you can enjoy your job and life. You don’t have to love your job, but it should at least allow you to enjoy life outside of work.
Now, let’s talk about business income for July 2019. My main income sources are:
– Affiliate Marketing (the largest part)
– Sponsored Partnerships
– Courses (like Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing and Making Sense of Sponsored Posts)
– Display Advertising (I use Adthrive, and other options include Mediavine and Media.net for new bloggers)
I regularly earn over $100,000 a month from blogging and have made over $5,000,000 in total. July 2019 was another great month, filled with income and enjoyment. I have big plans for the rest of 2019, including growing Making Sense of Cents in various areas like income, readership, and helpful content.
Some of my plans to grow the blog include:
– Focusing on SEO by taking a comprehensive course.
– Learning about Pinterest and Facebook advertising.
– Adding an online shop to sell products like printables.
– Creating new opt-ins to grow my email list.
July was fantastic in many aspects—blogging, courses, life, and more. I have a lot of ideas and am excited about the future. Blogging has changed my life for the better, allowing me to work from home, travel, and have a flexible schedule. I’ve had amazing experiences, like living in an RV, buying a sailboat, and taking incredible vacations—all because I started a blog on a whim eight years ago.
I’ve made many mistakes along the way, but I’ve learned and improved, shaping the blog into what it is today. Quitting my job to blog full-time was scary, and many thought I was crazy. But it’s been almost six years since I worked for someone else, and I’m still amazed at where blogging has taken me.
Thank you for being here and supporting the blog!

Featured Question: How do you have internet while traveling full-time?
This is a common question, and I understand the hesitation. When we first thought about traveling full-time, I was worried about internet access for my business. But I’ve found that it’s usually manageable. We use AT&T for phones and internet and recently got a WeBoost to improve our signal. In the Bahamas, we used MyIslandWifi, which offers unlimited internet for $75 a month.

My plans and goals for the blog and business include:
– Completing courses on Facebook Ads and SEO.
– Creating a freebie opt-in for affiliates.
– Getting 2-3 months ahead on blog posts.
– Working less than 30 hours a week.
– Being more present and enjoying life outside of work.
– Having fun!
Affiliate marketing results for July were around $60,000, and I plan to increase this through SEO and social media advertising. Sponsored partnerships were average, but I secured new deals and expect a busy fall.
