Here’s how Lisa, a reader, started a new blog and, in just 7 months, gained over 140,000 social media followers and sees more than 70,000 page views each month. Enjoy!

Creating a website and attracting visitors is no easy feat, especially for beginners. There’s a lot to learn, skills to acquire, and strategies to implement.

I’m Lisa from The Financial Cookbook, and I’m here to share how I managed to drive 70,000 page views to my blog in just 7 months, all while holding down a full-time job. I’ll walk you through the steps I took, what helped me, and what I recommend for making the most of your time.

What is The Financial Cookbook?
I’m Lisa, the owner of The Financial Cookbook, a company focused on financial and career empowerment for women. Our mission is to help women understand finances, investing, and real estate in a simple way, so they can live their dream lives.

I started The Financial Cookbook a year ago as a side project while recovering from a sports injury. With extra time on my hands, I decided to launch a business I’d been contemplating for years. Despite my demanding full-time job in tech, I used my evenings to build The Financial Cookbook. Now, I teach women about finances in my free time.

Starting a Blog With No Experience
When I say I had zero experience in building a website or a company, I mean it. Although I work in tech, I don’t know much about technology. Starting a blog was entirely new to me, and I was overwhelmed by how much there was to learn. However, if I could do it with no experience, anyone can.

How I Reached 70,000 Page Views on My Blog in 7 Months
Blogging is not an easy side hustle. It requires long hours, hard work, and patience. Here’s what I did to succeed quickly:

1. Set Up My Blog as A Business
I started by setting up my blog as a business from the beginning, opting for a self-hosted blog to make it look professional. This was crucial for driving traffic, as a professional-looking site is more credible to visitors.

2. Set Expectations
I realigned my expectations after realizing that getting traffic takes time and effort. I committed to at least a year of consistent work before reassessing.

3. Took Blogging Courses Right Away
I invested in courses from successful bloggers to learn the ropes. These courses taught me how to set up my blog, drive traffic, and monetize it.

4. Started All Social Media Platforms
I created accounts on Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook to drive traffic and build a following. Repurposing content across platforms saved time and effort.

5. Took Pinterest Seriously
Pinterest was a game-changer. I set up a business account and followed a strict strategy to drive traffic. Consistency was key.

6. Consistent Blog Posts
I committed to posting one blog post per week. This consistency helped Google see my site as up-to-date and valuable to readers.

7. Started an Email List Early
I began building an email list within 2-3 months of starting my blog. This allowed direct communication with readers interested in my content.

8. Made it All About The Reader
I focused on writing content that benefited my readers, keeping them engaged and coming back for more.

9. Learned Continuously
I constantly learned new things through videos, books, articles, and podcasts. This ongoing education helped me improve my blog.

How Much Can You Make with 70,000 Pageviews?
By the time I reached 70,000 page views, I was making around $2,200 a month. It’s not a full-time income, but it’s a great side hustle.

Driving Traffic to a New Blog Summary
Driving traffic to a new blog is challenging, but consistency and passion were crucial for my growth. I was genuinely passionate about my content and making a difference, which resonated with readers. Although I took on a lot, all the moving parts worked together to build a solid brand and drive traffic.
