Today, I’m excited to share an interview that will teach you how to make extra money by running Facebook ads for local businesses.

I recently spoke with Bobby Hoyt, a former high school teacher who managed to pay off $40,000 in student loan debt in just 18 months. Now, he runs the personal finance blog Millennial Money Man full-time, as well as a digital marketing agency for local businesses that he started in 2015.

If you’re looking for a new business venture or a side hustle to earn extra money, learning how to run Facebook ads for local businesses could be a great option for you.

In this interview, you’ll learn:
– How Bobby started making money through Facebook ads
– Why small businesses want Facebook ads
– How to find your first Facebook ads client
– How much you can make doing this work
– And more!

Bobby has been featured in major publications like CNBC, Forbes, Business Insider, Reuters, and MarketWatch.

Before we dive into the interview, Bobby offers a free webinar that teaches you how to start this business, find clients, and more. Check out the interview below for more details.

1. Can you share your story and how you started running Facebook ads for clients?
Sure! A few years ago, I was a high school band director and not very happy with my career. I had $40,000 in student loan debt and felt trapped by my salary. So, I decided to live very frugally and paid off my debt in 18 months. After that, I started blogging and eventually created Millennial Money Man. I quit my teaching job after making a small amount of money from my blog because I was passionate about working online.

After quitting, I needed more income, so I started helping a jeweler with their website and Facebook ads. I quickly realized that running ads for local businesses was a solid way to make money while growing my blog.

2. I keep hearing that “Facebook is dead”?
That’s not true. Facebook ads are still the most effective local lead generation strategy for brick-and-mortar businesses. Plus, Facebook owns Instagram, which is also popular for local business lead generation.

3. Do small businesses really want Facebook ads? Why would they pay for this service?
Yes, they do. Business owners need more customers, and they see their competitors successfully using Facebook ads. However, Facebook doesn’t make it easy for them to run ads effectively on their own. Many business owners end up wasting money on ineffective ads and give up. By running the correct ad types, you can help them generate leads and take a big task off their hands.

4. Is this side hustle hard?
It’s not hard, but it does require some work. Our course teaches everything you need to know, from creating ads to finding clients. The course is structured in a step-by-step way with “over the shoulder” videos. Running ads for a client only takes a few hours per week, and once set up, they mostly run on auto-pilot. This side hustle can bring in an extra $2,000+ per month, and some students even make $5k, $10k, or more each month.

5. How can a person find their first Facebook ads client?
Finding clients can be intimidating, so we spend a lot of time on client acquisition strategies in our course. We provide training on nine different ways to get clients using various methods and social media platforms. Our biggest advice is to focus on one or two strategies and go all in. We also offer support in our coaching group to help students strategize and respond to potential clients.

6. How much money can you make doing this type of work, and how many hours does it take per week?
The going rate for Facebook Ad management is $1,000 – $1,500 per month, per client. While this may seem like a lot, it’s a no-brainer for business owners who see a steady stream of customers from the ads. Many small business owners find this cost reasonable compared to other expenses like rent.

7. Is there an opportunity to grow this side hustle into a full-time business?
Absolutely! Many of our students have turned this side hustle into a full-time business. Some of our success stories include students making $8k-$13k per month, paying off debt, and even leaving their day jobs to run their agencies full-time.

8. What exactly are people going to learn from your course?
The course teaches you how to create profitable ads for local businesses, even if you have no marketing or technology background. You’ll learn how Facebook Ads work, how to create effective ads, troubleshoot problems, target the right customers, find your first clients, and track results. The course costs $397 and includes lifetime access, plus the option to join our coaching and support group for additional help.
